If you are involved in an accident ...
Stop
and report the accident to the police if any other
person or animal has been injured or any other vehicle
or property damaged. You may be asked to show your
Certificate of Motor Insurance in these circumstances.
Obtain
the contact details of any drivers, passengers or
pedestrians involved in the accident together with
details of witnesses. Request from any other drivers
involved in the accident the name of their insurance
company and their policy number.
You
may be asked to supply a sketch of the accident scene.
Do
not admit blame or liability for an accident or offer
to make a payment for any damage caused.
If
the accident is not your fault and you have purchased
the legal assistance cover offered with your policy
you are entitled to professional help from a solicitor
to claim compensation from the responsible third party
for uninsured losses. For example policy excess, hire
car charges, personal injury compensation.
